Human + Human Decision-Making

From juries to corporate boards, small groups are often tasked with combining their information, expertise, and ideals to arrive at consequential decisions. Successful people often aim to mentor others to inspire and create opportunities. Everyday people often try to reflect on their thoughts to improve their thinking and choices. I am interested in studying ways to extend the human capacity to think through issues and make better decisions.

Decision by Committee

Together with Yuji Winet, I am building a better science of collaborative decision-making. We combine experimental and naturally-occurring data to provide psychological insights into why people conform and vote against their conscience in group choice.

Example work:

Pivotal voting: The opportunity to tip group decisions skews juries and other voting outcomes (PNAS, 2022)

Awards: Hillel Einhorn New Investigator Award (SJDM); Honorable Mention, Best Paper (BSPA)

Media coverage: Behavioral Scientist, Boston Globe, Law360

Together with Sana Khan, I am exploring projects and partnerships to understand the minimum and necessary conditions for effective mentorship at scale
