Work with me
Current Berkeley students: Next spring I will enroll a group of students in the Data Science for Good Clinic (INFO 290). Students will work as research assistants on data-intensive projects geared towards academic research or nonprofit consulting. Prerequisites include i) programming skills (e.g., R, Python, JavaScript), and ii) interest in thinking about AI, social policy, and/or their intersection. If you are interested, please send me an email with your CV and a brief description of your research interests.
PhD applicants: Please consider applying to the Public Policy PhD Program and/or the PhD in Information Science. Mention me specifically in your application if you think there is a particularly good fit.
Postdoc Opportunity: I’m hiring a full-time Bellwether Postdoctoral Scholar at Berkeley’s School of Information, starting as early as July 2025. This is a two-year position focused on the intersection of behavioral science, machine learning, and policy. If you're excited about applying rigorous empirical methods to real-world issues—especially in law, discrimination, or public policy—and building public-facing tools that surface variation in how laws are applied across the U.S., I’d love to hear from you. The position includes dedicated time for independent research, support for publications, and opportunities for deep interdisciplinary collaboration.
